Presenting at RESONATE 2017 in Newfoundland

I was asked to do this a while ago but I just can’t hold it in any longer!! At the end of October I will be travelling to St. John’s, Newfoundland to deliver not one, not two, not even three, but four workshops at RESONATE 2017! Not only am I presenting a workshop on Rock Bands in the Elementary School Setting, the wonderful people at the NLTA Music Special Interest Council have also asked if I would do three more while I’m there: The By-Ear-Learning Process, Creativity in the Music Classroom, and Songwriting for Performance. Of course, I said yes!

Any time I do a workshop with teachers I want it to be as practical and as useful as possible because I know from being on the other side that a lot of the time, they are not. I try to get as many people up as I can to play during my presentations because I know you want to play just as much as the kids do, and I know you will remember more if you a) watch it happen in front of you or b) actually get to play! I also try and have you leave with enough material for you to be able to implement what you learned in your classroom the next day! If you are living in Newfoundland or are travelling to Newfoundland in October, don't forget to check out this amazing conference.

So many fantastic  presentations and workshops to look forward to! In addition to all of this, I am pushing to have my book, Rock Coach: A Practical Guide for Teaching Rock Bands in School, published by this conference so if you are in town you could be among the first people to have your hands on a copy of this book! You might even be able to get it autographed if you ask nicely. Of course, I will keep you posted.

If any of the workshops that I offer interest you, please do not hesitate to contact me or let your music teaching association know about them! I would love to visit your town and give you some new tools to engage your learners in exciting ways.

Happy Musicking!
